01/16/2024 – Signal 99 – Mansfield Drive
At 03:56, Fairmount and mutual aid was alerted to a Residential Structure Fire on the 200 Block of Mansfield Drive in the Fairmount Fire District. Engine 4, Engine 5, Truck 1, Rescue 1, and Cars 1, 2 and 3 responded from Fairmount. Engine 4 arrived 1st due within 5 minutes of dispatch to find a well involved ranch with fire showing from the A Side. Truck 1 and Engine 5 arrived 2nd and 3rd due respectively, within 8 minutes of dispatch. The Engine 4 crew made an aggressive attack while the Fairmount Truck and Solvay Truck crews were performing Vent Enter Search (VES) to find the occupants. Two victims were removed from the structure by firefighters, one was pronounced on scene and one is currently in critical condition at University Hospital. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Onondaga County Fire Investigation unit.
Mutual aid on-scene included Lakeside Fire, Solvay Fire Department, Taunton Fire Department & Onondaga Hill Fire Department; Marcellus Fire Department, North West Fire District & Warners-Memphis Fire Department stood by at Fairmount Fire Department. All units were in service by 1034hrs.
WAVES, TLC Ambulance, AMR of Central New York, Camillus Police Department, Geddes Police Department, Solvay Police Department, Camillus Highway Department, and National Grid also responded to the scene.
